Arkwright Scholarship Eligibility
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships are awarded to the most promising and talented students who have a strong passion and determination to excel in their future studies and careers.
- To be eligible, you must have a strong desire to pursue a leadership role in the field of Engineering.
- When applying for the scholarship, you must be in the school year during which you will be taking your GCSEs, Scottish National 5s, International Baccalaureate Standards, BTEC level 2s, or equivalent exams.
- Additionally, you must plan to remain in school or sixth form college for two years to study A levels, BTEC level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma, Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher, or the International Baccalaureate higher level.
- If you are not pursuing a BTEC Level 3 in engineering, you must commit to studying one of the following subjects to A level (England, Wales & Northern Ireland) or Advanced Higher (Scotland): Engineering Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
How to Apply for Arkwright Scholarship
If you are interested in applying for an Arkwright Scholarship, make sure to talk to your teacher because your school must first be partnered with the program.
If your school is not yet partnered, simply ask your teacher to fill out the school partnership form. The process is quick, easy, and completely free. The application period for this scholarship is open from September to January every year.
You must apply during Year 11 (England and Wales), S4 (Scotland), and Year 12 (Northern Ireland). The Scholarship will be awarded as you begin Year 12 (England and Wales), S5 (Scotland), and Year 13 (Northern Ireland) to study subjects that will prepare you for a university degree or higher-level apprenticeship and career in Engineering, computing, or technical design.
To apply for an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship, each student is required to pay a £40.00 administration fee by April. This fee helps cover the cost of the rigorous selection process.
